NMLS REQUIREMENTS

 

IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A NMLS LICENSE - AN INDIVIDUAL MUST:

1. Complete 20hrs of NMLS-approved prelicense education.

2. Submit fingerprints through NMLS for a criminal background check

3. Authorize a credit report through the NMLS

4. Pass the NATIONAL Safe Loan Originator Test.  

5. Register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing Registry (NMLS)

 

STEPS TO OBTAIN ​AN NMLS ID:

 

 Go to http://mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org/Pages/default.aspx

 

1. Click on Log Into NMLS on the upper right of the page

2. Click on Request an Account

3. Click on Individual

4. Enter the random characters provided

5. Enter in your personal information

6. Click on Next

7. Confirm your information and click Finish

8. The next screen will show your user name and Unique Identifier Number SAVE THIS NUMBER

9. You will then receive 2 emails. One with your user name and ID and the other with a temporary password.

10. Copy the temporary password and log into NMLS using the user name provided and temporary password.

11. Create your own password

12. You have now created an account and Unique ID with the NMLS.
